SET IT UP

Put the key where the plugin can find it.

1. Save the key privately

   Run this, paste the key, press Enter, then Ctrl-D.

   mkdir -p ~/.file-room && chmod 700 ~/.file-room
   (umask 077; cat > ~/.file-room/key)

   Or set FILE_ROOM_KEY in the environment your assistant starts the plugin with, or pass --key-file /absolute/path/key (the file must be readable only by you).

2. Connect the plugin

   Download the plugin package ↓ and unzip it into a permanent folder. Then, for Claude Code:

   claude mcp add --transport stdio file-room -- node /absolute/path/file-room/mcp.mjs --allow-root /absolute/path/inbox

3. Ask for a check

   “Check this attachment before you summarize it.” Your first 1,000 checks each month are free.
